> SOLUTION:
Soph 26/6/21 23:30 1. Quick and sweet. 2. Quick and logical. 3. Insufficient hinting - the number of methods i could come up with that can potentially result in an answer is big and not constrained enough by the available hints.
AlessaMason 27/6/21 0:09 Inventive and creative. However, the third part needed hints. Maybe a lil polishing for the final image to show more clearly.
kad 27/6/21 0:37 despite the lack of hints i was very curious and played around with the last part before figuring out what i had to do. very nice puzzle for a start
Ronald_D_D 27/6/21 2:36 Descent of the Durtle into Madness. Daylight come and me wan' go solve. Come, mister tally man, tally me the bouncer. Daylight come and me wan' go home.
NinthLyfe 27/6/21 4:08 Disabled minds think alike
Catz 27/6/21 7:34 An artistic masterpiece! My favorite part was the second one, the logic there was a large uwu. While I do think part 3 needs more hints, or at least a way of preventing some of the rabbit holes, it is ultimately possible to solve with the proper analysis, and can even be easy for some people. Also uwu for that very satisfying last step :D Good job weaaaviiiee
tun 27/6/21 10:23 agreed with others regarding the insufficient hinting in part 3 (as a suggestion, you could've used "Σ" in the filename), but otherwise it was a nice puzzle!
jeremyswiff 28/6/21 0:42 I was all excited for this puzzle to be about the 1995 PC CD-ROM game.

3nd3r5 3/7/21 16:29 My only beef is that your 1's look like 7's, that's what threw me off for so long on the first part. Otherwise, loved it!
Yoon 3/7/21 17:13 I enjoyed the puzzle very much like the theme you kept going on first part sets an expectation for you as to what to do with the symbol second part was my favorite as it was able to confirm that what you were doing was correct basically every step of the way. it was a very large section, but was very nicely done third part was unfortunate imo. the way it was, you had to take a large leap to get to the solution; but if you had made it with any hints, it would have been too short and easy all in all, great job and ty

And then I got stuck on the last step ever since day 1 until I decided to interact with people on enigmatics. My instinct has been right the whole time but the actual execution never took place. Ronald_D_D 3/7/21 23:03 "Puzzles? Music? Gods? You want it? It's yours my friend, as long as you have enough IQ. Sorry Ronald, I can't give hints, come back when you're a little mmmm... smarter!"
Soph 4/7/21 1:19 I lost everything while solving this puzzle, my family, my job, my sanity, the very reason I solve weeklies became very fuzzy not unlike my brain matter. Catz - uwu, best vetter.
AlessaMason 5/7/21 0:19 Liked the structure, the ideas, the aesthetics and this could have been my 10/10 puzzle, if it weren't for the lack of hints about the methods used. The files were actually successfully hinted at, but the methods? Complete opposite case. Eg. how was I supposed to know I needed to octal on the zeus level? Quite saddened cause I liked everything else but suffered enough and it left me with a bitter taste.
Picklemaniac 5/7/21 12:23 This one was so much fun. Especially Hermes. Quite difficult, but in a good way.
tyte 5/7/21 21:09 https://i.imgur.com/qFrxgnL.png
infiniteXforever 6/7/21 2:15 Demeter is the most difficult one as it is tricky, while a bit misleading. Others are just perfect. I like this clever puzzle overall, and I like the final answer :)
Thick 6/7/21 3:22 unreliable narrator
tun 6/7/21 14:16 Agreed with AlessaMason and tyte. The structure, the aesthetics, etc. are all really nice and well done. The techniques and ideas themselves are also cute and interesting. But the hints are non-existant at times and make for a bittersweet experience. Some comments: Zeus. There are no clues for having to use octal (and *reinterpret*, not *convert*, the hexadecimal digits). One idea would be to organize the squares in an octagon pattern or similar. Hermes. "Wings" is a very subtle hint. Maybe instead of using "2" and "3" you could've used "W2" and "W3" as additional clues, but I'm not sure if that would change a lot. Ares. This one was probably the most annoying one, as there are no clues for what to do with the green dots. Demeter. This one mentions that no math is required, but the complete opposite is true, since you need to know the mathematical terminology for the parts of circles and disks. If you wanted to avoid calculation, then "no arithmetic" would have been a better hint I think.
Kristoforos 6/7/21 18:04 The structure of the puzzle was great. But when it came to the implementation, puzzle just fell short of being very good. At some point (Ares, Demeter, to some extent Hermes) there just isn't enough information to continue solving, and then I'm suddenly find myself with the shovel somewhere in Great Britain, looking for a jewelled golden hare. The final step wasn't bad, it's hard to state if it needed to be so drawn-out, stretched like a tapeworm. It wasn't fun but stubbornness that allowed me to finish it. Yet, I don't feel like this puzzle was created for people like me, so I can see how it could be fun for people much smarter than myself. P.S - Ares can go fuck itself.
Lenz 7/7/21 7:53 This gave me HEAVY notpron vibes and I loved it. Like a clean notpron with great ideas. That said, fuck Demeter, fuck that girl I hate her. I loved it good bye
Flan 7/7/21 7:59 Why does everything here seems so certain, yet unknown at the same time?
NwithAhook 7/7/21 18:50 yo
welkin25 8/7/21 11:00 Agree with above on lack of hints. Also, WAY too many red herrings, like the Greek letters in the song list that were completely wasted, or the random comments on gods (like who is this “her” in Poseidon?) that served no purpose whatsoever. The ordering — I thought it was rather unreasonable to order planets and Demeter, yet skip Uranus? The puzzle author could’ve easily limited to just the planets and that would’ve been a natural ordering. The overall structure: While good in concept, I did not like the reliance on some obscure song list which honestly seemed a bit tacky. I also did not like sometimes the puzzles are in a hidden file, while other times they are in the images themselves. Meh. Finally, the whole hiding information in source code thing — it was fun for people to figure it out when it’s their first time seeing a notpron style puzzle. I think it pointless when the author directly told people to look at the source code in the instructions. Why not put the info on the webpage itself?
Rafa 8/7/21 16:53 This felt very notpron like and in that sense a bit nostalgic, just like Zed. The only 'critique' i might agree with is that this puzzle uses a lot of different methods (which i like!) but they may be poorly hinted if one is not familiar with them. I really liked this one. The theme and the puzzles themselves. Thank you for making this!

welkin25 24/7/21 18:39 Interesting puzzle overall, liked the Maslow hierarchy theme, but... The L/R words... ends up only using the first one, then why include the second word? Major red herring. And the final adding UZA and then anagramming step is very inelegant imo. (In fact I guessed the final answer based on flavor text before realizing UZA is meant to be thrown in with all the other letters.) Could be made cleaner, especially given how unconstrained the letter extraction step is.

carbo25 25/7/21 22:43 Disgusting
AlessaMason 26/7/21 4:40 no joke, this is the last time I even attempt an 3nd3r5 puzzle. also, urgent suggestion: rename "weeklies" to "elite af puzzles". disgusting from me too.
tun 26/7/21 20:55 unreliable bouncer I disliked the fact that the first step is case-sensitive, when the rules say (or used to say) that lowercase and no spaces should be used. Even with the later addition of "for passwords", I still think that the rule might be too subtle, because lots of people and riddles use the words "solution", "password" and "URL filename" interchangeably. Another not so fair thing is the obscure encoding of the ISBN at the very end. There are absolutely no hints for it, and "PLWL" could mean absolutely anything in the absence of a hint pointing to books. The part with double Vigenere was a little bit guessy but doable. The other parts were very cool, and I very much like the effort with the modded game! Some stuff definitely should've been toned down though.
Picklemaniac 26/7/21 21:16 Extremely difficult. Needed more hints tbh. But kinda expected going into an 3nd3rs puzzle. https://imgur.com/a/k818dPP

Picklemaniac 31/8/21 20:02 Difficult, but fair. Soooooo much fun! One of the best of this season so far!
Rafa 3/9/21 17:32 did not disappoint https://imgur.com/a/YTmUIYX
Shiro 3/9/21 19:08 i kinda liked it
Lenz 4/9/21 8:14 I really really liked that one. The theme was just great... not got much else to say. ok thx bai
Flan 11/9/21 17:13 Very enjoyable! Great theme! Nice puzzles and a very good bit of obfuscation, and The Undertake is the best ever. 5/5

Thick 12/9/21 6:05 to the podium with this one
tun 12/9/21 16:12 Interesting and fun! Cute ideas without any unfair parts. The word checker was a nice touch. Good job!
AlessaMason 12/9/21 21:15 everything 01 related was counterintuitive to me, but i gotta say: thankful for the binary string confirmation.
Picklemaniac 14/9/21 11:34 This one was quite the pickle.
Rafa 17/9/21 0:51 kobe?
Shiro 17/9/21 23:37 part 4 last binary step seems too random to me, but I liked the riddle overall. epic
Lenz 18/9/21 7:01 purpertations!
Faz 18/9/21 15:24 This was really fun. The answer checker was really nice, and provided useful reassurance along the way. Second part of binary section seemed significantly harder than the rest.

Ronald_D_D 19/9/21 1:17 Caesar created McDonald's.
AlessaMason 19/9/21 22:40 i doubt i will be able to capture my feelings about what i experienced in a comment. i'm in awe! aesthetically it is the best thing i've laid eyes upon. save for the last part, they were all hinted at. absolute fav part: the cube. least: the UNIX. this is a prime example of how a riddle can be enjoyed. not overly hard and sufficiently hinted. congrats, Soph!
Picklemaniac 20/9/21 16:39 This one was soooo good. Both the puzzles and the aesthetics. Changing the time was extremely clever, and the cube was straight out of an actual video game. 10/10
Kristoforos 20/9/21 16:39 It's waaaay to well crafted. One helluva weekly. It was so good... nothing to add.

Ronald_D_D 26/9/21 2:51 I kept dismissing the tiny square differences as artifacts of image compression or colour correction. Also all the steps are correctly listed but like any puzzle, it's hard to figure out what everything means without it being y'know, a walkthrough. The previous people's weeklies have spoiled me into thinking there was more steps and level 1 was a bouncer level but I was surprised to see that it was the entire puzzle and it was just meant to be a decent single image puzzle. I would have liked it better if the image was bigger but I will be VACATIONING IN [Burning acid] WHILE YOU SOAK IN THE [Hyperlink Blocked].
Thick 26/9/21 6:35 i like smaller images because they reduce my carbon footprint. z)[-{\[0{a[#b`o*zKc+{$['zak&rjVV
umsyt 26/9/21 23:11 what the fuck
Kristoforos 29/9/21 16:36 It's funny... was thinking there is more to the puzzle initially and was suprised that the ending was right there, without any continuation. But at the same time it doesn't mean that it was a bad puzzle. I had my fun, and I'm feeling fulfilled. Thanks bitch!
Picklemaniac 29/9/21 16:58 Liked this one :)

jeremyswiff 7/10/21 1:58 Part 2 was kinda wonky, unless I just did something wrong. But overall pretty cool. Part 5 blew my mind.
Shiro 7/10/21 23:09 and i oop- skipped two parts... my bad part 3-6 tho, epic. and now my honest opinion: the ideas in this one are so freaking amazing, this is such a good weekly, good job dude! sorry for bruting it haha, i'll try to solve the other two before it ends!

Kukkelis 10/10/21 22:41 Pure unadulterated essence of kino. The ability to create an intricate riddle with only ciphertext makes this a seminal work of art in the field. Logical through every step if you just have the patience to analyse everything you are given. 5/5

Picklemaniac 14/10/21 11:38 Hard! But fun! But hard! but fun! Could maybe have used an extra hint towards the end. The solution was very satisfying nonetheless :)

umsyt 16/10/21 20:47 oh, that is devilishly cruel. good work.
Picklemaniac 16/10/21 22:35 Good puzzle. Especially liked the hex editing part! But the RC5 could have maybe used an extra hint/egg on how to decrypt. I can imagine it being a little inaccessible for people without prior programming experience. I don't think there's another way of decryption without making some minor changes in that securitysite program.

AlessaMason 25/10/21 1:10 That leet speak was bullshit. You cannot go from "p455w0rd" to "s3pt3mb3r". What would have been the easiest part for me was a waste of time for that exact reason. Other than that, better than last year's and overall enjoyable.
NwithAhook 26/10/21 3:31 yo
tun 28/10/21 19:07 Exactly what Alessa said. >:( It would've also made a little more sense to use 5 spaces for a dash, 1 space for a dot, and no spaces for a separator, or if already using 5 spaces as a separator, then they could've been removed from the first and the last line maybe. But I suppose not everything has to be super obvious, so that part didn't annoy me as much as the leetspeak did. Otherwise, well done!

MishuAnubis_ 30/10/21 18:22 an easy weekly, i dont wanna know how last one will be ..
AlessaMason 30/10/21 20:16 The bouncer was quite elusive and the use of only the initial letters of the chemical elements might be a cause for arguments, but I had no trouble with that. This is me nitpicking. It was overall short and sweet. Nice!
Ronald_D_D 30/10/21 20:32 "nemo" "omen", and threshold did not show me all the symbols. I trusted it so much to a flaw.
